THE ITCH.IO 1-BIT JAM

M.O.L.E. was developed for the 1-bit jam on itch.io, which ran from April 25th, 2016 to May 2nd, 2016. The objective of the jam was to create a game in 1-bit, meaning only a single color may be displayed at any time without giving any additional feedback (that is, no audio*, no text popups, no nothing!).

Of course, creating a game without bending these rules proved to be quite a challenge. And M.O.L.E. undeniably is a challenge to play, too! And this is where the survival guide comes into action. As stated by the jam rules "a game which requires the player to constantly refer to the manual is fine" and M.O.L.E. almost definitely falls into this category.

*Only exception: it was possible to use a tone to distinguish between the first and the second color, to make the game accessible to visually impaired players.
